How did you begin your yoga practice?
Thirty five years ago I spent a year at the Zen Center of San Francisco studying meditation.
Living both at Green Gulch Farm and Tassajara Zen Mountain Center in California we practiced Hatha Yoga as part of our monastic lifestyle.
Where did you receive your training? When were you certified?
I received my RYT 200 from Samayama Yoga in DC in 2005. I have studied Anusara yoga, Bikram, Vinyasa Flow Yoga and Kundalini. I have been a teacher all of my life both in public/private schools in the UK and the USA. I enjoy teaching children , teens and special needs students as well as adults. In 2016, I completed the Prison Yoga Project training. I began my additional 300 hour study in 2017.
What is your favorite yoga pose?
I would have to say Ardha Chandrasana ( Half Moon ) because of its vulnerability...requiring openness, balance and faith! I call it the "Party Pose."
I love to move and dance...hence I enjoy combing meditation and breath work in vinyasa flow sequences!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy gardening ,spending time at the beach, going for walks with our dog Daisey. Also keeping up with my 17 year-old son Nick who plays Soccer, plays trumpet in the Snow Hill High School Band and competes in Track Events.
I love to travel, and have been to Europe , Asia, Australia and New Zealand and attended meditation and yoga retreats in the UK, India and Nepal.
