How did you begin your yoga practice?
I took my first yoga classes while I was in high school. My mom encouraged me to try Hot Yoga with her at our local fitness club. She loved it. And I did not! After high school, I went to yoga classes here and there. I started to appreciate it more during college, but still didn’t practice regularly. I wanted my exercise to be go-go-go! I hated the sitting, breathing, meditation part. (HA! Hilarious.)
So I’d say my practice really began when I was 24. I was feeling a bit lost, a bit down in life. I started taking Lindsey Hatfield’s class at Soul and every time I went in, it seemed like she was speaking directly to my heart. Though I was already feeling off, I think my practice uprooted some things that needed to be uprooted. The next 6 months or so were very tough for me, I was really struggling in my personal life. I made a number of big, scary changes in my life when I was 25 and 26. Those changes allowed me to begin to pursue a life I knew I could create for myself.
In 2017, I attended JJ Simon’s Meditation class at Soul Yoga and that changed everything. I don’t really know how to describe what it’s like to have a sudden moment of understanding, a moment when you realize the nature of mind, but that’s what happened. My life has not been the same since. I connected with a spirituality that had been painfully absent in my life and it continues to guide me, to fuel me, to be my true path.
Why do you practice yoga?
It makes me feel strong and graceful, beautiful and confident, powerful and proud.
It makes me more focused, grateful, happier, and more at peace.
I feel like I push myself to be my best, most authentic self every time I’m on my mat.
While I still love the physical practice, I find the most benefit from meditation. I practice meditation every day because I believe that by creating peace within me, I can create peace around me.

Why do you teach yoga?
I teach to inspire passion. I teach to build confidence and bring joy through movement, expression, and hopefully a bit of laughter. I aspire to guide others to live authentically and find their inner source of peace.
What else do you do with your time?
I teach dance (ballet, tap, jazz, and contemporary) and Group Fitness classes. I am also currently building a Coaching business based in wellness, yoga, and meditation to help people get clear on their goals, re-wire their habits, and help them build the life they deserve.
I am fluent in Spanish and I spend hours continuing to practicing and learn every week.

What’s your favorite yoga pose and why?
Dandayamana Dhanurasana (Standing Bow Pulling Pose). Because it makes me feel badass. A true dancer’s pose.
